Davo Karnicar

Slovenia
Born: 1962
Team: FreeSki Mountaineering
Sports: mountainbiking
Motto: "live every second, every hour, every day"

It wasn't always easy for little Davo when his classmates would return after the summer holidays to tell stories of the great blue ocean, while year after year he would only have the mountains of his homeland to talk about. But today he realises how important those years in the Slovenian Karawank mountains were for him. Davo is a ski instructor, mountain guide and ski guide who has ascended the highest elevations across all seven continents carrying his skis with him - and then skied back down again. He is also the first person to succeed in making a continuous descent on skis from the summit of Mount Everest to base camp, an altitude difference of over 3,400 metres. After his 7-summits success he has been heard to mention the word K2 now and then. It's unlikely he will leave his skis at home when he tackles this mountain.
