ALPINISM – ONWARDS AND UPWARDS
No approach route is too long, no rock face too steep, no mountain peak too high. Alpinists are the true all-rounders of mountain sports. They move through ice and snow as sure of foot as on rock, equally at home on the vertical and the horizontal. The encounter with the mountain takes place on many levels. A healthy sense of self-confidence is needed to be able to differentiate between planned risks and sudden dangers, and make the right decision. Exhaustive ascents, thinning air, and unpredictable changes in weather can take their toll on the body. The remoteness and sense of vulnerability are mentally exhausting too.
The Alpinist's equipment needs to be as versatile as the sport itself to meet the changing challenges. The aim is to develop the appropriate equipment for each moment. Whether it is Greenland or the Himalayas – the SALEWA team members test the equipment on mountains across the world.
